Futurro Antivirus Software, also known as Futurro, is a rogue antivirus program on Microsoft Windows. Like many other rogues, it scams the user by telling them that they have many viruses on their computer and that they need to pay to remove them.
To protect itself from being removed, Futurro Antivirus Software will also block the user from running any legitimate application on the user's computer. It does this to prevent the user from running legitimate security software that may detect it as an infection and remove it. The message that the user will see when the user attempt to run a program is:
iexplore.exe is infected!
Without a doubt, this infection was created for the sole reason of scaring the user into purchasing it.
- Reboot the computer into Safe Mode with Networking. To do this, turn the computer off and then back on and immediately when the start up screen is visible, start tapping the F8 key on the keyboard. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter on the keyboard
- End the processes that belong to Futurro Antivirus Software and clean up some Windows Registry settings so they do not interfere with the cleaning procedure.
- At this point, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to scan the computer for any infections or adware that may be present.
